The Indian equities continued to witness lackluster trade in late morning deal on Tuesday as investors keenly awaited outcome of RBI monetary policy review which will be the first one for new governor Urjit Patel.

At 12:22 PM, the Bombay Stock Exchange bellwether Sensex was at 28273.86, up by 30.57 points or by 0.11 per cent, and the NSE Nifty was at 8745.25, up by 7.15 points or by 0.08 per cent.

Traders are hoping that the newly constituted Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) headed by Patel may cut interest rates by 25 bps amid the recent dip in consumer inflation.

On the sectoral front, oil & gas and PSU stocks were leading the gain, adding as much as 1.99 per cent and 0.57 per cent respectively.
