The key domestic benchmark indices erased losses and continued to climb into positive terrain during the noon trading session on account of buying in frontline blue chip counters.

At 12:20 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 28986.45 up by 60.09 points or by 0.21 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 8928.7 up by 10.75 points or by 0.12 per cent.

The sentiments got a push with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s statement that the government is running against time for the implementation of GST, but added that he would certainly like to give it a try.

Among the sectors, realty and metal were shining by gaining 1.51 per cent and 1.19 per cent respectively.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2670 , shares advanced were 1554 while 936 shares declined and 180 were unchanged.

On the global front, Asian peers were trading mixed with investors awaiting Chinese trade data and a policy meeting by the European Central Bank, where it may announce an extension of its asset buying campaign.
