At 14:18 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 29044.24 up by 66.22 points or by 0.23 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 8950.3 up by 7.3 points or by 0.08 per cent.
Shares of BHEL jumped 15 percent after it posted better-than-expected June quarter results. Its net profit jumped 54.2 percent to Rs 77.7 crore from Rs 50.4 crore in corresponding quarter last fiscal. Total income during the quarter jumped 29 percent to Rs 5622 crore against Rs 4368 crore in year-ago period.
Among the sectors, consumer goods and PSUs were on the buyer’s radar, rising 1.68 per cent and 1.45 per cent respectively.
On the global front, Asian peers ended the day on a mixed note, while European counters were trading in green.
