The key domestic benchmark indices remained choppy during the late noon trading session with Sensex and Nifty swinging between negative and positive zone.

At 14:20 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 28360 up by 6.46 points or by 0.02 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 8722.1 up by 6.5 points or by 0.07 per cent. Investors remained on the sidelines after India's consumer price inflation slowed to 5.05 per cent in August compared with 6.07 per cent in the previous month as food prices eased. Further, the country's industrial output eased to 2.4 per cent in July from a year ago, because of sluggish production of capital goods and consumer non-durables.

The August whole-sale price index increased to 3.74 per cent compared with 3.55 per cent in July , as per the government data released today.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2891 , shares advanced were 1739 while 962 shares declined and 190 were unchanged.

On the global front, Asian peers ended the day in red, while European counters were trading in green.
