The key domestic benchmark indices opened higher in the morning trading session tracking firm cues from Asian peers after US Federal Reserve announced to hold its key short-term interest rate steady.

In another boost to market sentiments, the Bank of Japan unveiled plans to overhaul monetary policy and steepen the yield curve.

At 09:20 AM, the Bombay Stock Exchange bellwether Sensex was at 28846.93 up by 339.51 points or by 1.19 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 8873.35 points, trading higher by 96.2 points or by 1.1 per cent.

On the global front, Asian stocks were trading higher today after the Bank of Japan unveiled plan to overhaul monetary policy and steepen the yield curve. US stocks closed higher in the previous trading session after the US Federal Reserve in its policy decision announced to hold its key short-term interest rate steady.
