At 14:07 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 27979.96 down by 10.25 points or by 0.04 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 8630.5 down by 2.1 points or by 0.02 per cent.
Among the sector, metal and consumer goods indices were among the major losers, declining 0.44 per cent and 0.37 per cent respectively.
On the global front, Asian peers ended the day on a mixed note, while European counters were also trading on a mixed note.
