Indian equity benchmarks were trading in the positive terrain during the afternoon session on Wednesday as traders keenly eyed Fed Chair Janet Yellen's speech on Friday which will offer further clues on whether the US Fed will raise interest rates this year or not.

Moreover, covering up of short-positions by speculators ahead of the August Futures & Options (F&O) contract expiry tomorrow, too supported sentiment at D-Street.

At 1:13 hours, the 30-share barometer index of Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex was at 28,038.48, up by 48.27 points or 0.17 per cent while the NSE Nifty was at 8,638.4, up by 5.8 points or 0.07 per cent.

Buying momentum was witnessed mainly in the healthcare and oil & gas sector stocks.

On the global front, Asian markets were mixed amid caution ahead of Yellen’s speech on Friday which may offer more clues over when the Fed plans to raise interest rates next.
