The Indian equities continued to witness selling pressure in late morning deal on Wednesday as investors resorted to profit booking as a worsening sell-off in oil renewed concerns over the health of the global economy, souring risk taking appetite. Further, traders were err on the side of caution ahead of the tabling of the crucial GST bill in the Rajya Sabha today, that could give way to the country’s biggest breakthrough fiscal reform and help bolster business sentiment and growth in Asia’s third biggest economy.

At 12:10 PM, the Bombay Stock Exchange bellwether Sensex was at 27763.23, down by 218.48 points or by 0.78 per cent and the NSE Nifty was at 8563.35, down by 59.55 points or by 0.69 per cent.

On the sectoral front, all the indices were bleeding in red, except metal stocks, with FMCG and realty stocks leading the decline, falling as much as 1.54 per cent and 1.5 per cent respectively.
